How To Restart Firestick
In the three methods below I will show you how to restart Firestick using both a Fire TV Stick Lite and Firestick 4K.
However, these steps should also work on any generation of this device.
Method 1 – Unplug Power Cord
The fastest way to restart your Firestick or Fire TV is to simply unplug the power cord from the outlet or device.
This works great if you find your device is frozen or you are unable to access anything with the remote.
Once unplugged, wait 20-30 seconds and plug back in. That’s it! Your device will now cycle through the restart process.
Make sure to allow a minute or so for the Firestick to load menus and applications. Once complete, your device will be back up and running.
If you do not have easy access to the outlet your fire tv is plugged into or want to restart internally, I suggest the steps below:
Method 2 – Remote Shortcut
If you are having trouble accessing your outlet or firestick to unplug it, there is a way to simply use your provided Firestick Remote to restart it.
1. From any screen, use your remote to click the Pause/Play button and the Select button simultaneously for a few seconds as shown below:
2. Your device will prompt the following message stating “Your Fire TV Stick 4k is Powering Off”
3. After powering off, the device will reboot and be back up and running in no time.
Method 3 – Firestick/Fire TV Settings
The third and final method that will teach you How To Restart Firestick is also the longest.
If for some reason the other two methods above do not work for you, you can always restart within the Fire TV settings.
The methods described above work best when you are unable to navigate your device.
However, if your remote and device are both working properly, we can easily restart using the steps below.
