Italian IPTV Subscribers Facing Fines and Possible Court Hearings

Italian Police are in the news yet again for their work in disseminating an IPTV Reseller.

As first reported by TorrentFreak, Italy’s Guardia di Finanza has completed an investigation into a reseller of TVSStreamingItalia and IPTVPanamCity.

A 70-year-old Italian man is accused of running the operation and is facing possible charges of counterfeiting, computer fraud, alteration or use of trademarks, and more.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Italian authorities target IPTV Providers and Resellers.

Earlier this year, the Italian Police Shut Down a Major IPTV Network in Operation Blackout that required over 200 specialists across 11 departments.

The operation allegedly shut off access to around 80% of Italian IPTV Outfits.

Italy’s latest attempt at combatting piracy now also includes IPTV Subscribers who used these services to stream live channels.

It is reported that users of the services listed above were given a notice that subscribing may in fact violate copyright laws.

Members did not heed this warning which is why they could face charges of “knowingly receiving stolen goods”.

Investigators were able to track down the subscribers via payment methods including bank transfers and pre-paid credit cards.

Around 1800 customers were traced by the authorities and could face possible fines and even court hearings.
