The LaLiga Football League is reporting IPTV players as illegal in their latest submission to the European Commission.

LaLiga is one of the most popular football (soccer) leagues in the world today with billions of viewers from across the globe.

They are no stranger when it comes to enforcing anti-piracy efforts. LaLiga assisted authorities in the Mobdro developer arrest along with other IPTV arrests.

This time, it appears LaLiga is coming after IPTV players, which carry no content themselves and require an external M3U playlist for importing content.

In the submission document to the European Commission, LaLiga included a table listing several IPTV players.

Many of these names may sound familiar such as IPTV Smarters Pro, Perfect Player, TiviMate, XCIPTV, and others.

What’s interesting is that many of these IPTV players are available for installation in reputable app stores like Google Play, Apple, and others.

In the official LaLiga submission to the European Commission, the document states the following:

“It is important to note that all of these player applications allow the consumption of an innumerable amount of audiovisual contents such as sports, movies, series TV channels, etc. In other words, this problem affects the entire audiovisual and entertainment industry in general.”

What’s interesting about LaLiga’s statement on IPTV players, is that with this logic one could claim web browsers are illegal since they “allow for the consumption of an innumerable amount of audiovisual contents.”

Will Users of These IPTV Apps/Services/Websites be Contacted?

It’s uncertain what’s happening behind the scenes with LaLiga’s latest targeting of IPTV apps, services, and streaming websites.

We’ve seen website operators in the past hand over user data, streaming history, and identifying IP addresses.  They’re also known to sell this sought-after information to other third parties.

It’s extremely important to only stream content not protected by copyright and protect yourself with a VPN.

Overall, it will be interesting to see what happens going forward with LaLiga and their submission to the European Commission.

We will keep our visitors informed as more news arrives on the situation.
