If you are using a Fire TV Stick Lite, 3rd Gen Fire TV Stick, or 2nd Gen Fire TV Cube, follow the steps below for jailbreaking your device.
NOTE: Not all devices will have this interface as it is slowly rolling out to Firesticks and Fire TVs.
1. From the home screen of your device, hover over the Find option.
2. Click Search.
3. Search for and select Downloader.
4. Choose the Downloader app.
5. Click Download.
6. Wait for the app to install.
7. You will then encounter Downloader Ready to launch message.
8. Return to the home screen and open Settings.
9. Click My Fire TV.
10. Choose Developer options.
11. Click Install unknown apps.
12. Find the Downloader app and click it.
13. This will turn Unknown Sources to On for the Downloader app. This will enable side-loading or “jailbreaking” abilities on your device.

The following screenshot tutorial will take you through the simple steps necessary of how to jailbreak Firestick.
This first set of instructions are for those using the old Fire TV interface.
This includes the Amazon Firestick 4K, Fire TV Televisions, 1st gen Fire TV Cube, and older models of the Amazon Firestick.
If using a Fire TV Stick Lite, 3rd Gen Firestick, or 2nd gen Fire TV Cube, refer to the instructions for the new interface that follows.
The first thing we will do is install an application called Downloader and enable unknown sources.
1. From your home screen, find the search icon and type Downloader.
2. Click on the Downloader icon.
3. Click Download.
4. Wait for the app installed message. Click Open or Launch now.
5. Choose Allow.
6. Click OK.
7. You are now on the main screen of Downloader, return back to your device’s home screen.
8. From the home screen of your device, hover over Settings.
9. Within the Settings menu scroll to the right and choose My Fire TV.
10. Click Developer Options.
11. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources.
Important Note: For those using the Firestick Lite, 3rd Gen Fire TV Stick, or 2nd Gen Fire TV Cube, click Install unknown Apps.
12. Find and click Downloader. You will notice it says “ON” which will enable unknown sources for app installation.
That’s it! After you jailbreak Firestick, you can now side-load hundreds of 3rd party apps using Downloader on your streaming device.

Most guides stop after this but I will take it a step further and show you how to install an alternative app store that will provide access to thousands of apps not available within the Amazon App Store.
I will also provide suggestions on which applications you should install onto your jailbroken Fire TV Stick so you can enjoy free movies, TV shows, live channels, sports, and much more.

Downloader is a must-have tool for all of us with jailbroken Firesticks.
It will allow us to download and install various applications from the Internet that aren’t available within the Amazon App Store.
Most of my installation tutorials on the TROYPOINT Website use the Downloader app.
You will find links toward the bottom of this tutorial that will take you to the most popular guides.
Once the Downloader app is installed, we will then install a Google Play Alternative App Store called Aptoide TV.
This 3rd party app store has thousands of applications not available within the Amazon App Store. This is when the fun begins!
With FileLinked Not Working, many have turned to Aptoide and other alternatives like FileSynced and AppLinked to replace this popular app installer.
Follow the steps below to install this Alternative App Store on your Firestick/Fire TV.
1. Open the Downloader app.
2. Click Allow.
3. Click OK.
4. Click the Browser tab on the left menu.
5. Click the URL bar and type in the following address https://tv.aptoide.com/ and then click the Go button
- Note: This app is hosted at tv.aptoide.com
6. Scroll down and click Download Aptoide TV.
7. Wait for Aptoide TV to download.
8. Click Install.
9. Click Done.
10. A pop-up window will appear, click the Delete button. This is necessary to free up your Firestick’s or Fire TV’s storage space.
11. Confirm by selecting the Delete button again on the screen.
12. Locate and select Aptoide TV from your Apps & Channels list.
13. Launch Aptoide TV.
14. Click OK.
15. Click Allow.
16. You will now have access to Aptoide TV on your Firestick/Fire TV.
Although Aptoide TV is an excellent app, it may not have the most recent stable version of Kodi which is 19.2.
Below, I will show you how to install the most stable release.
The shortcut that you type into Downloader within this guide will always point to the most up-to-date stable release of Kodi.

What Is Kodi? Everything you Need to Know
Use the following instructions to install Kodi on a Firestick/Fire TV:
Step 1 – Open the Downloader app
Step 2 – Click the OK button on the remote to open the keyboard and type in the address for Kodi 19.2 which is troypoint.com/kodistable.
Click the Go button after typing in the address and Kodi download will begin.
Step 3 – Click Install on the Kodi setup page.
Step 4 – Click Done once Kodi has been installed.

The term jailbreak has often been used to describe installing a 3rd party app store on a device so maybe this tutorial here is more fitting in terms of this definition.
Although we can’t install Google Play on our Firestick or Fire TV, we can install another App store that works great with the remote control.
Aptoide TV provides many of the popular apps that are normally found within Google Play.
It also includes free streaming applications that aren’t available within Google Play so, in my opinion, this is a better choice anyway.
