The US Government has released its annual list of top pirate websites and other “notorious markets” for 2021.

As first reported by TorrentFreak, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has listed over 20 websites that are allegedly involved in piracy or counterfeiting.

The list is created based on guidance from copyright organizations such as the MPA, ACE, and RIAA who all had recommendations.

It is mostly a grab bag of torrent sites, unverified streaming websites, and a few international social media platforms.

Some of the notable websites highlighted in USTR’s list include the following:

USTR 2021 Review of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy (PDF)

In a recent press release, Ambassador Katherine Tai of the USTR stated the following regarding this list:

“The global trade in counterfeit and pirated goods undermines critical U.S. innovation and creativity and harms American workers. This illicit trade also increases the vulnerability of workers involved in the manufacturing of counterfeit goods to exploitative labor practices, and the counterfeit goods can pose significant risks to the health and safety of consumers and workers around the world.”

Therefore, this annual list is an effort from the USTR to motivate foreign governments and the private sector to reduce piracy.

This isn’t the first instance of government authorities releasing lists of piracy websites and services on their radar.
